Causes:

  • Not maintaining a wet edge during application
  • Using low-solids or poor-quality paint
  • Painting over an unprimed, porous surface that absorbs paint unevenly

RECOMMENDED SOLUTIONS

  • Always maintain a wet edge. Start near a corner and work in small sections from wet to dry.
  • Don’t pause mid-wall — lap marks often form where application was stopped and restarted.
  • Prime first when painting over porous or patchy surfaces to ensure consistent absorption.

RECOMMENDED APPLICATORS

Roller:
• Use a 3/8” high-quality woven roller to ensure even paint release.
• Avoid foam rollers.

Brush:
• Use a soft, synthetic brush for smooth cut-ins and to blend edges with the roller.
