  • Use of low-grade, porous paint
  • Inadequate surface preparation before painting
  • Paint film not fully cured before exposure to staining agents

RECOMMENDED SOLUTIONS

  • Prep the surface properly by making sure it is clean, dry and free of grease, dust or mildew.
  • Use a quality primer like Valspar® Stain-Blocking Bonding Primer/Sealer when painting over stained, porous or previously unsealed areas.
  • Apply one to two even coats of paint with the correct roller nap for the wall texture.
  • Allow the paint to fully cure (typically 7 days) before washing or exposing to heavy use.
